About Us
Kehillat Ohr Tzion is a Modern Orthodox synagogue that offers a warm and welcoming community in which members can grow both intellectually and spiritually as Jews. Our shul encourages participation of both men and women in all of our religious and community activities as guided by our rich and nourishing Halakhic tradition. We provide engaging opportunities for both children and adults to learn and participate in our shul-family. Kehillat Ohr Tzion is a multigenerational synagogue and embraces members from varying Jewish backgrounds. Our congregation values diversity and inclusiveness.
Rabbi Joshua Strosberg grew up in Schenectady, NY where he cultivated a love for small shuls and was an active member of the Upstate N.Y. NCSY circuit. After graduating from the University of Rochester with a BA in Religion and a minor in Film Studies, he studied for three years at Shapell’s Darche Noam in Jerusalem. He received rabbinic ordination from Yeshivat Chovevei Torah in New York City. During his years at YCT, he taught classes at the Forest Hills Y, the Kinneret School, and SAR High School in Riverdale. He interned at Bais Abraham Congregation in St. Louis, where he met his wife Andrea. For the past year he served as rabbi of Atria Assisted Living in Riverdale. He is happy to return to a smaller, heimishe community and a shul where everyone knows each other. He assumed the position of rabbi of Kehillat Ohr Tzion, a warm and welcoming modern orthodox congregation, in July of this year. Josh enjoys playing jazz piano, watching classic movies, and reading.
